What experience do I need?

No salon experience is required.  You must be coachable, and have great people skills.  You can run a salon absentee or owner-manage your salon.  In either case you will need to be able to hire and retain good people.  A desire for success and fun are a must!

Do I have to work full time in my store?

The answer is no!  You can if you want to – that is an owner/manager model.  The other is the absentee owner model where you hire a manager to run your stores and you keep your day job.  We have gone to great lengths to develop systems that help you accomplish this.

Can I own more than one Shear Madness?

Yes! A desire to own more that one salon is a real advantage to you.  When you own multiple salons you can share your employees.  Your advertising dollars go much further, and you can take greater advantage of volume buying discounts and shipping savings.  Leveraging your time by owning more than one salon makes absentee ownership easier and store visibility in your area greater!

How much does a Shear Madness cost?

Be sure to download our Item 7 HERE for more complete financial information. As a note, now is a great time to get in on the lower end, as many landlords are paying a larger portion of your build out costs, and interest rates are very low! We require you have at least $50,000 in liquid assets and a net worth of over $200,000 to open a Shear Madness Haircuts for Kids.

What is the royalty for a Shear Madness?

As we want you succeed as much as you do we have a graduated scale for royalties.  Five percent of gross sales your first year and then 6% thereafter.  Your royalties ensure that Shear Madness is always on the “cutting” edge.  Our philosophy is to continue to improve our systems and operations, making changes as we grow that make both your profit margin and enjoyment increase!

What do I get for my franchise fee?

The franchise fee is $25,000. We also offer area development agreements for qualified canidates who would like to develop multiple units in a specific geographic region. Included in this is your training program, pre-opening assistance for your company set up, marketing, build out assistance, operating manuals, and that learning curve we’ve referred too!  For training you and your manager come to our headquarters for a full week, then we bring a stylist and trainer to your place for the week that you open.  We help you set up the inventory, train your stylists, you, a manager, and receptionists.

What ongoing services do I get for my royalty payment?

These are  too numerous to mention here.  When you check us out further we will share more.  You will get plenty of ongoing support!  Lots of marketing and ongoing store systems have been put into place are are done for you.  We have tried to take everything that hinders a small business owner from being able to do the things that bring business to your store off of your plate.  In turn your stores have  potential to be much more successful and life can be easier on you!

What is the process to own a Shear Madness?

The first step is to fill out the form for more information - you will then be contacted and discussion will begin. After a qualification period you will be given our Franchise Disclosure DocumentOnce you have reviewed this document we will have you physically visit a store (if you have not done so yet) and you can meet us in person and we can meet you! If we decide that you would be a great fit for our system then we fill out a Franchise Agreement and you review this for at least a week and then decide to come on board if you would like.

How much money can I earn if I own a Shear Madness?

We cannot predict how much YOU will make as we don’t know how hard you will work, how closely you will follow the systems, etc.  Our franchise disclosure document has a section that may help you predict what your revenues and expenses might be if you opened your own Shear Madness Haircuts for Kids.
